Best Man’s Speeches
Best Man’s Speeches – you either love them or hate them.
My guess is if your not directly involved in the wedding you love them but if you’re either the Bride, Groom or close family you dread just what that carefully chosen and best of friends is going to reveal!
But before you criticise that poor Best Man who has revealed deep dark secrets about the groom, insulted the bride, her mother and father and every friend in the room, give a thought to what he’s been going through the past feww weeks…
He’s had to organise the stag night / weekend / week.
He’s racked his brain for a venue where vast quanitities of alcohol can be consumed and scantily clad young ladies are in plentiful supply.
He’s had to remember (or possibly manufacture those hilarious events from the groom’s past)
He’s now worried about making himself look stupid in front of his mates and saying too much that will later come back to haunt him – you know all that “lovey-dovey” stuff.
No best to avoid that. I’ll make it very amusing he says to himself – that way everyone is happy and is traditional.
He convinces himself he knows what’s best and sits down with a pen and paper.
He creates his “masterpiece”. What could possibly go wrong?
So the big day arrives and there he is, nursing a hangover from the stag night. He’s nervous about forgetting the ring. So much so he leaves his speech at home.
All day he’s seen fumbling in his pockets searching in vain for his “masterpiece” – at least that’s what he tells the maid of honor!
And then the moment arrives…
He takes a drink to steady his nerves as he tries to remember what he wrote.
He is introduced.
He stands up to speak. He mind is dry – his mind is blank.
He forgets the brides name. He blushes, he stammers, he blurts out lines he recalls but now they don’t sound so funny.
And then he wakes up. It was all a dream. He has his speech, carefully prepared…
And the nightmare is about to begin – for the Bride and Groom.
Don’t regret the day you were unprepared.
Whether you’re the bride and groom, mother, father, maid of honor or the best man himself – make sure you have an awesome speech prepared…

You have me laughing about what happens to an unprepared best man when giving the wedding toast. But it does not have to be so. The best man can put together a killer wedding speech if prepares and gets a guide. That’s what I did. Saved my hide so to speak.
Great words of wisdom on the best man speech. You hit it right on the nail when you said not say anything negative about the bride or her family-including jokes about them. Big mistake anyone ever does that. I really agree with you about using a best man speech guide. This will make or break a toast to the bride and groom.
Of course, these speeches like you said cannot be boring. I mean it is the most anticipated talk during the reception. I just act myself and give what I call my “fire side” talk. Casual and very informal.
I honestly believe that short is better than long. Just a few minute best man wedding speech will do.

I think you may have suggested that the best man refrain from any alcohol. The best man can make or break a wedding. Makes it hard for the groom when the best man gets drunk the night before and barely makes it to the wedding.
So, for all you best men out there, stay away from any alcohol until after you have finished your speech. After that…it’s up to you man. Have fun.

Lol..thats funny. My opinion is that one of the most difficult tasks given to a best man is writing a best man speech
Bestman speeches are difficult to get right and most men struggle when they find out they have to do it. He can’t avoid it as he is being given the role by a close friend:)It is absolutely essential that you get it right.

LOL!
NO alcohol for speaker hehehe!
funny things may really happen while you’re drunk, so make your speaker busy away from the wine before they grab the mic
thanks
The video is very funny! What could you expect from someone like Rowan! He is really a tickler in my bones! But anyway, it’s true that it’s difficult for a man to make his best man speech that’s why, we are grateful to have come across best man speeches lessons like this! Thanks so much for sharing this!
“My father in law when told of his new grand son in law said every? family has a Gerald. And so it is ”
Rowan Atkinson is simply great. he made the most humorous father of the Bride speech.
That Rowan Atkinson clip is marvellous, IMHO he was much funnier in Blackadder and Not The 9 O Clock News than Mr Bean.
The best man should practice with his speech until he is perfect and will make no mistake. Practice make perfect.
Anyway, Rowan Atkinson is simply the best.

I must say the best man’s speech can be tricky because you have to please a little bit of everyone present in the crowd. With hundreds of people staring at you, you can easily be nervous by the stares burning into your eyes. Therefore, it is best that it’d be practiced well before time.
